Evaluation Communities of Practice and Peer Learning Cohorts for State Workforce Agencies
About
The capacity to plan for, design, and conduct evaluations takes appropriately allocated resources, expertise, technical assistance, and tools to create over time. This session will highlight the efforts made by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and the efforts of two state workforce agencies (SWAs) to expand or build evidence and implement evaluations as required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014.

Lessons learned from the Evaluation Community of Practice, past Evaluation Peer Learning Cohort (EvalPLC) cohorts, and information about the next round of applications for the 2022 EvalPLC will be shared during this session.
Presenters will:
- Provide an overview of the Evaluation and Research Hub (EvalHub) and WIOA evaluation technical assistance resources.
- Describe the lessons learned and benefits of participating in a peer-learning cohort to build or expand evaluation capacity for SWAs and other WIOA core partners; and
- Facilitate a conversation about the objectives, structure, options for capstone activities, and the schedule for the 2022 EvalPLC.
Attendees will learn about the ETA’s efforts to provide evaluation dissemination and technical assistance through the EvalHub and the EvalPLC; receive information about past cohort experiences from state representatives and recent lessons learned briefs that include challenges, successes, and capstone projects; and hear about the application process, key dates, and expectations for SWAs to participate in the 2022 EvalPLC TA offering.
